The Velvet Beach owes its name to the very fine, golden sand, almost silky to the touch. For children this means: no stones, a sandy, gradual seabed (very shallow in the first 50 metres) and clear water with little current — one of the safest stretches of coast on the Adriatic for little ones, recognised for years with the Blue Flag.
The seabed is very shallow and sandy for the first 30-50 metres: children aged 2-3 can stand in water up to their waist a good distance from shore, always under adult supervision. Early morning and late afternoon are the best times for families with young children: less crowded, more pleasant temperatures.
The beach is only 10 minutes on foot from the loft, with restaurants, ice cream shops and the seafront close by. The train station is 10 minutes away: no car needed.
