Spring sea, no crowds

In late April-early May the Velvet Beach is at its best season for those wanting to enjoy the sea without the pressure of August: pleasant temperatures (20-24°C), water warming up gradually (17-18°C), bathing establishments open, restaurants with tables free.

1 May is Labour Day — a national holiday that, if close to the weekend, creates a 3-4-day break. It's one of the most sought-after moments of spring for short seaside getaways. In spring weekends fewer venues are open compared to summer, and the best spots sell out quickly: a private apartment offers total flexibility, with a kitchen for breakfast and packed lunches.

Book at least 1-2 months ahead for the best choice. If it rains, the old town is well equipped: shops, museums (Rocca Roveresca, Diocesan Museum), cafés and restaurants, or an excursion to Urbino (50 min).
